Jennifer Lopez had the world wrapped around her little finger in 2018, thanks to her age-defying curves and offbeat fashion sense. Unfortunately, things aren’t ending on an equally sweet note for the singer this year, as a photographer is suing her for uploading his work without his permission on Instagram.
Per court documents obtained by celebrity news site The Blast, photographer Michael Stewart had snapped a shot of Lopez, 49, walking down New York City. He then licensed the image to the Daily Mail, which published it on 29 June 2018.
Stewart claims that Lopez or her PR team lifted the photo, which he says is registered in the US Copyright Office, from the article without seeking his consent.
The image appeared on the singer’s Instagram story, which you can view here, the following day.
“Today was a good day!” the text on the photo reads. If only she had known.
Stewart is now asking for profits Lopez might have made from sharing the photo, or up to US$150,000 in damages.
