According to the Chinese calendar, 2019 marks the Year of the Pig—the twelfth and final animal sign in the Chinese Zodiac.
To commemorate the occurrence, Nike is releasing a limited edition 2019 Chinese New Year collection comprising classic Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse silhouettes.
The shoes come in designs inspired by all 12 Chinese Zodiac signs, as well as the traditional Chinese patchwork called Bai Jia Yi, where various pieces of fabric are sewn together to form artistic designs.
Two main graphic styles dominate this collection, the first being a customary geometric quilt pattern based on the 12 Chinese Zodiac symbols, while the second is a mosaic pattern of the 12 Zodiac signs.
See the sneakers below. Nike’s 2019 Chinese New Year collection will be released throughout the month of January.

The Nike KYRIE 5 CNY features the geomatric Bai Jia Yi pattern on the shoe’s heel panel and the Flytrap-inspired overlay. The collection’s color scheme is reflected in the traction pattern.

The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo CNY features the mosaic pattern on its mesh upper. The symbol on the midsole references the Bao Quan, a traditional Chinese salute.

Elements from the Nike CNY ‘Year of the Snake’ collection are clearly visible on the men’s Nike Air Max 98 CNY.

A similar iridescent material from the Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Year of the Dragon’ collection is used on the heel tag of the women’s Nike Air Max 98 CNY.
