Classic Christmas song Santa Baby, originally recorded in 1953 by Eartha Kitt with Henri René and his orchestra, has been given a modern-day rewrite by singer Miley Cyrus that turns it into an empowering feminist anthem.
Cyrus performed the revised edition on Thursday’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Mark Ronson.
In place of the original’s “Santa baby, a ’54 convertible too convertible too, light blue,” Cyrus sings, “Santa baby, I don’t need any fancy jewelry,” she continues in another part of the song, “Don’t want diamonds, cash, or stars / Nothing that comes in a box / No more fluff, I’ve had enough / And I can buy my own damn stuff.”
