Marvel Studios Directors’ New Profile Picture Savagely Pokes Fun At Fans

Those devastated by the ending in Avengers: Infinity War might have clung onto every teaser dropped by its directors, the Russo brothers, like gospel. You can’t blame fans—a handful of the hints provided by the duo turned out to hold some truth to them. The Avengers: Endgame title was, in fact, cryptically “leaked” months before the release of its trailer.

It’s evident that the Russo brothers get a kick out of trolling audiences with their clues that make people go, “Are they or are they not kidding?” Their latest Twitter profile picture sums up this slightly cruel glee of theirs to a T.

To mock the naivety of fans, the directors replaced their display photo with one of actors Ryan Reynolds (who plays ‘Deadpool’) , Hugh Jackman (who played ‘Wolverine’), and Jake Gyllenhaal (‘Mysterio’ in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home) at a holiday party.

The shot came from Reynolds’ social media, and shows the Deadpool actor blank-faced and in a festive sweater while plain-clothed Jackman and Gyllenhaal cackle on.

“These f***ing assholes said it was a sweater party,” Reynolds’ caption reads.

Having found Reynolds’ gobsmacked reaction familiar, the Russo brothers borrowed it and tagged Jackman and Gyllenhaal as Anthony and Joe Russo. The bamboozled Reynolds, on the other hand, was handed the title of, “fans.”

Avengers: Endgame, the final installment of the Avengers franchise, is slated for arrival on 26 April 2019. There’s still about four months to go until the film opens, so keep your eyes peeled for more epic trolling by the brothers.
