Bakers are unhappy that candy maker Hershey’s is selling its chocolate ‘Kisses’ with missing tips.
The issue was brought to attention thanks to members of The Wedding Cookie Table Community on Facebook. Its founder Laura Magone said a fellow baker first noticed the issue a couple of weeks ago.
Magone called up the company to complain about the broken tips and things escalated further. She wrote on Facebook, “Hershey’s has told people on this page (including me today) they are intentionally breaking off the tips of the iconic American Hershey kiss at the factory so the tips don’t break off in transit—this makes no sense.”
She told Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Hershey’s answer “doesn’t pass the smell test” and encouraged other members in the community to call and complain too.
The accusations of tipless Hershey’s ‘Kisses’ have gained popularity on Twitter as well. The Hershey Company’s director of corporate communications Jeff Beckman said the company understands that bakers’ expectation for the iconic brand is high and it is looking into the issue now.
The company however, has yet to explain how it plans to fix the issue.
