LA-based artist Mauro Gatti has but one rule when he illustrates, “If it doesn’t make you smile, change it.”

This definitely rings true in his ‘The Happy Broadcast’ project, where the Italian-born creative, who has worked with brands including Google, Giphy, YouTube, Disney, and Snapchat, highlights positive news from media. This includes, for example, Saltwater Brewery’s biodegradable six-pack rings that are edible by people and animals.

Gatti explains that he was compelled to use his art to spread more positivity after feeling fed up with all the negative news, which has become so familiar worldwide.

With 2018 coming to a close, what better way than to end the year on a good note; particularly through these adorable drawings that will make you smile. Follow @the_happy_broadcast on Instagram for a regular dose of good news.

Efforts to save the giant panda, commonly a symbol for conservation, are paying off: the iconic China’s wild panda is no longer endangered. In the past 10 years Panda's population grew nearly 17 percent—to 1,864 pandas. But wait, there's more! China’s Sichuan province government has secured $1.58 billion in funding over the next five years for a planned Giant Panda National Park, three times the size of the U.S. Yellowstone National Park. We know that the plastic rings that hold six packs of cans together can often cause serious harm to marine animals, ending up around their necks and heads. A craft beer company has brewed up a brilliant idea: Saltwater Brewery in Delray Beach, Florida, has created edible six-pack rings that feed, rather than kill, marine life if the rings end up in the ocean and an animal happens to eat it. The rings are created from beer by-products during the brewing process such as barley and wheat and are completely safe for humans and fish to eat. For now they’re only used by Saltwater Brewery rather than any major brands, but the craft beer spot hopes that other companies will jump on their creation and start using it for their products, too. There can be absolutely no doubt that solar energy is now the fastest growing source of energy worldwide. In 2017, the World added 29.3% more Solar Energy capacity than the previous year.⠀ ⠀ China remains the world’s leader in solar power, followed by the United States and India.⠀ ⠀ While in use, solar panels create absolutely no waste or emissions. Unlike fossil fuel power plants, they produce clean, renewable energy from a fuel source that requires no locating, excavation, transportation, or combustion. It's a simpler, cheaper, cleaner, and all-around better energy solution. Ingvar Kamprad was one of the most successful entrepreneurs of the 20th century. From the time of its establishment in 1943, IKEA has become a worldwide phenomenon, revolutionising the way in which home furnishings are both bought and sold. Kamprad’s personal fortune had reached a staggering $46 billion by the time he passed away at the age of 91. It has since been announced that, while half of his fortune will be passed on to his children (Peter, Jonas, Mathias and Annika), the rest will be used for charitable means. A recent tiger population survey in Nepal has revealed that numbers of these iconic big cats have almost doubled in under a decade. This positive news means that Nepal is set to become the first country to double its national tiger population since the ambitious goal was set in 2010 – a goal to double tiger numbers in the wild 🐯 In 2009, Nepal’s tiger numbers were languishing at around 121 but government, conservationists and local authorities have worked for almost a decade to increase the tiger population in the Himalayan nation to a booming 235, and is all but certain to hit 242 in the next four years. Never forget that saving the planet’s wildlife is a cooperative exercise ❤ Source: National Geographic #thehappybroadcast #love #instagood #photooftheday #beautiful #happy #motivation #art #instadaily #friends #repost #nature #fun #style #illustration #inspiration #goodnews #art #artist #illustration #goodmorning #goodnews #tiger #animals #animal #nepal #wwf #tigers #wildlife #nature

Scotland became the first nation in the world to guarantee free sanitary products to all students at schools, colleges, and universities. It’s part of a £5.2 million ($6.7 million) government plan to fight “period poverty”—the problems faced by women who struggle to cover their basic needs while menstruating. In a recent survey, researchers determined that approximately one in four students at school, college, or university struggle to obtain period products. The Scottish government also says it intends to make period products free for everyone — not just students. Period poverty continues to be a serious global issue — one that can also lead to mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression. Hopefully more countries will take a step to fix this issue. China will invest 2.5 trillion yuan ($360 billion) into renewable power generation by 2020, as the world’s largest energy market continues to shift away from dirty coal power towards cleaner fuels. The investment will create over 13 million jobs in the sector and installed renewable power capacity including wind, hydro, solar and nuclear power will contribute to about half of new electricity generation by 2020.
