Sesame Street has proven—with its uncanny Stranger Things parody and ‘Uniqlo x KAWS’ streetwear collections—that it’s not just to be enjoyed by kids.
The long-running children’s show hasn’t gone so far as to have any of its characters spew expletives like a muppet-shaped Deadpool, though… or has it?
A clip of ‘Grover’ from Sesame Street has been making its rounds, as he appears to have uttered a word that might make any boring adult go, “Language!”
In the snippet lasting seven seconds, ‘Grover’ can be heard saying, “Yes, yes, that’s a f**king excellent idea!” to his friend, ‘Rosita’.
However, think of the sentence, “Yes, yes, that sounds like an excellent idea!” and you’ll be able to perceive the line for what it is.
This audio illusion is reminiscent of the viral ‘Yanny or Laurel’ phenomenon that left the internet appalled.
It’s also a telltale sign that many minds have long departed from the kid-friendly Sesame Street to reside in the gutter.
I know there’s lots of serious news out there, but Grover is dropping f-bombs on Sesame Street. I feel this is newsworthy and symptomatic of the current state of the nation. #sesamestreet #groverfbomb pic.twitter.com/sbLdgxc6ou
