’Tis the season to be snarky, it seems. Microsoft has released a jolly video to usher in the holidays, but not without going savage on rival Apple.
Responding to Apple’s infamous ‘What’s A Computer?’ ad that predicted the extinction of laptops due to the iPad Pro, Microsoft waxes lyrical about its ‘Surface Go’ tablet—while roasting Apple’s iPad range—in its new holiday jingle.
In the spot below, a young girl sings to the tune of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer: “Grandma, don’t run out and buy an iPad. Fine when I was six, but now I’m 10.”
“My dreams are big so I need a real computer to do all the amazing things I know I can.”
The ‘Surface Go’ has a starting price of US$399, making it a direct competitor to Apple’s US$329 iPad. If the young tech lover in your life hasn’t taken too well with Apple’s gift guide for this year, perhaps he or she would prefer something from Microsoft.
