Burger King’s latest marketing ploy includes sending its customers to McDonald’s unlock its penny deal.
The fast food chain posted a cryptic tweet reading, “brb going to McDonald’s” and its customers were confused, thinking if it was a mistake or its account got hacked. The chain then clarified the tweet an hour later along with a statement and a video that trolls its arch rival, by showing people arriving at McDonald’s and asking for a ‘Whopper’ and only to direct them back to Burger King.
The statement reads, “Introducing the #WhopperDetour. Order a ‘Whopper’ for a penny only “at” McDonald’s with the BK app. Yes, you read that right. Drive near a McDonald’s and use the BK app. No need to go to their drive-thru. Get yours before December 12th.”
All you have to do is download the Burger King’s app and drive to McDonald’s (or within 600ft of its vicinity). You will then be able to order a ‘Whopper’ for a penny and pick it up over at Burger King.
